You will see in the 'when' page that we are have now planned the 2008 courses as so many of you had wanted to book in for courses that weren't yet organised. We are very fortunate here in Tickhill, to have some of the most talented miniature artists to help us learn their skills. Diane Harfield makes beautiful cold porcelain flowers. We are hoping that Diane will be here some time in 2008 although we are not sure of the dates yet as Diane has severe family problems at the moment so is unable to make the arrangements. We are looking forward to Diane's return as she has some lovely new cutters for beautiful new flowers, both in 1/12th and 1/24th scales. She will, of course, make some suggestions of flowers for you to make but you can make flowers to suit any setting, whether it be an arrangement for your dollshouse, a florist's shop or garden - or even exotic plants for your conservatory. Penny Thomson, who is now very well known in the miniatures scene, works in card and papier mâché. Penny's scenes are a joy to behold and her techniques are amazing. Penny's first course in 2008 is to be an underwater scene. A mermaid's grotto - can you imagine it? No? Neither can I but Penny can - she has such a brilliant imagination - it's going to be wonderful. You can actually now see a photograph of the underwater scene - I must say though, that the picture does not do it justice. Penny will be doing this scene in March and August. In Nov/December, we will be making a Dickensian street scene. I am putting a photograph of a box I bought from Penny some years ago - the one will be making on the course will be loosely based on this box. The houses will be lit to add atmosphere and I am sure will all be delighted with what Penny comes up with. Jane Harrop will be here in April too teaching us how to make a gardening shop - an addition to the row of shop we started in 2007 with an antiques shop and Christmas shop. They look gorgeous when set in a row but equally as striking when just as individuals. In November we will be doing a general store.
Places on all these courses are limited so if you are considering attending one, please book early - look on the 'When' page for details. Do take a look at the photographs below which will give you a little taster of the courses Don't forget to click on the photographs to enlarge them Here is a picture of the new underwater scene which Penny will be teaching in March and August
