You will see in the 'when' page that we are have now planned the 2008 courses as so many of you had wanted to book in for courses that weren't yet organised. We are very fortunate here in Tickhill, to have some of the most talented miniature artists to help us learn their skills. Diane Harfield makes beautiful cold porcelain flowers. We are very happy that Diane's severe family problems have subsided and she will be back with us in April. I have just returned from Diane's course at Pat Cutforth's and it was MAGIC! Everyone did different flowers and all turned out brilliantly. I made an arrangement of red roses for a Ruby Wedding present for some friends - Diane has a fantastic new cutter for 'easy roses' which makes the making of them so quick and easy. She has a lot of new cutters, in both 1/12th and 1/24th scale. We also made agapanthus, hyacinths, Christmas roses - I could go on and on - everyone did far more than they had envisaged. Diane will, of course, make some suggestions of flowers for you to make but you can make flowers to suit any setting, whether it be an arrangement for your dollshouse, a florist's shop or garden - or even exotic plants for your conservatory. They are actually much darker than this but it wouldn't show up on the pic.
Jane Harrop In April 2009, we will be moving away from the shops we have made at the past few courses with Jane and we will be making a 1/24th veranda. I do not have a photograph of the project but will put in in as soon as possible. Jane's course filled at Miniatura (surprise, surprise!) but if you are interested, please do contact me and I will put you on my waiting list.
Penny Thomson, who is now very well known in the miniatures scene, works in card and papier mâché, usually in 1/24th scale. Penny's scenes are a joy to behold and her techniques are amazing. In July, we will be repeating Penny's Dickensian street scene - picture below. The scene is amazing with a pub on the corner and a row of timber-framed houses with village square and a cross in the middle . The course is to be repeated as it was so successful last year and many people missed the opportunity to book since all the courses booked so quickly. This is a picture of Penny's Dickensian street scene (click on the pic to enlarge) Here we have a photograph of Penny's lovely Tudor room with panelled walls and outside view which Penny will be teaching this Spring. (Don't forget to click on the pic to enlarge)
Do take a look at the photographs below which will give you a little taster of the courses. For a more detailed idea of previous courses, do go to the Gallery and view all the pictures there. Don't forget to click on the photographs to enlarge them
